ShippingLab strengthens its efforts in talent attraction: Welcome to Helene Mølsted

ShippingLab is ramping up its efforts in talent attraction and is pleased to welcome Helene Mølsted, who has just joined as project coordinator in a newly established position.

With a master’s degree in rhetoric from 2024 and experience in strategic communication and digital engagement, Helene brings strong communication skills and a unique understanding of students. Having recently navigated student life herself, she knows what it takes to engage the next generation.

“As Denmark’s joint innovation platform for the maritime sector, ShippingLab has a responsibility to inspire more young people to see the potential in Blue Denmark. The industry’s continued innovation depends on our ability to attract new talent, and Helene will play a key role in this effort. She has a sharp eye for youth communication and hands-on experience in engaging and motivating students. We are therefore very pleased to have her on board,” says Magnus Gary, Project Director at ShippingLab.

From rhetoric to maritime innovation

Helene co-founded the digital media platform Retorisk Arena, where she also served as editor-in-chief. Through this, she gained valuable experience in developing digital formats that engage and activate audiences. In addition, she has worked with project management, press relations, and event planning in the publishing industry.

Now, she embarks on her journey in the maritime sector:

“I look forward to highlighting the many interesting opportunities in Blue Denmark. The sector is new to me, but it is clearly in the middle of a very exciting development. I am eager to collaborate with stakeholders across the industry to help more young people discover the opportunities it offers,” says Helene Mølsted.

With a sharp pen and a curious outlook on the world, Helene has a passion for everything from philosophical books to news podcasts and lively discussions on current trends – an interest that will undoubtedly shape her approach to engaging young talent and communicating the many possibilities within the maritime sector.

A strong effort in talent development

As project coordinator, Helene will drive initiatives and events aimed at increasing students’ interest in maritime innovation. She will work closely with companies, organisations, and educational institutions to build strong connections between students and the industry.

ShippingLab’s talent attraction activities are made possible through a generous donation from DS Norden and are carried out in close collaboration with Danish Maritime, Danish Shipping, and a wide range of other stakeholders across the Danish maritime value chain.

Helene Mølsted joined ShippingLab in February 2025 and is based at DTU in Lyngby.
