ShippingLab and Aarhus School of Marine and Technical Engineering enter strategic partnership for hands-on maritime innovation

The green transition in the maritime sector receives a significant boost through a new strategic partnership between ShippingLab and Aarhus School of Marine and Technical Engineering’s (AAMS) Maritime Synergy Hub. The collaboration aims to advance hands-on research and development of sustainable maritime solutions, fostering synergies across the industry and bridging the gap between research, technology development, and industrial needs. It will also focus on concrete projects addressing challenges such as sustainable energy solutions, digitalisation, and the optimisation of maritime operations.

With a grant of 10 million DKK from Dampskibsselskabet NORDEN A/S, the AAMS Maritime Synergy Hub has established itself as a dynamic centre for future maritime innovation, where students, researchers, and companies collaborate on tangible sustainable solutions. Through this partnership, projects from the AAMS Maritime Synergy Hub will be anchored on the ShippingLab platform, providing access to a broad network of maritime stakeholders and strengthening cross-sector collaboration and synergies.

“The partnership between AAMS Maritime Synergy Hub and ShippingLab is both natural and valuable. It extends our reach and ensures that more stakeholders in Blue Denmark benefit from our hands-on research initiative. At the same time, integrating the projects from AAMS Maritime Synergy Hub into an established and well-functioning maritime project platform makes perfect sense,” says Anders Hanberg, Rector of Aarhus School of Marine and Technical Engineering.

“With AAMS Maritime Synergy Hub, Blue Denmark has gained a practice-oriented research initiative that connects industry, technology institutes, and knowledge institutions for the development of energy technologies on an industrial scale. This partnership is a perfect fit for ShippingLab, and given the increasing need for rapid integration of new green technologies, ShippingLab is eager to contribute to making the initiative beneficial for the entire maritime sector,” says Magnus Gary, Project Director of ShippingLab.
