Maritime Careers Day at DTU connected students and industry across the Blue Denmark

More than 150 students gathered in Glassalen at DTU to connect with and learn more about Blue Denmark.

Today, students at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) met with more than 20 maritime companies at the Maritime Careers Day in Lyngby – an event organised jointly by ShippingLab, Maritime DTU, Danish Maritime and Danish Shipping.

After a warm welcome from ShippingLab and Maritime DTU, Jenny N. Braat, CEO of Danish Maritime, opened the event with an introduction to the Danish maritime industry. She encouraged the students to use the opportunity to engage directly with the many companies present – to get a real sense of the industry and its wide range of possibilities.

Throughout the afternoon, the participating companies gave students a closer look at the maritime world and the many directions it offers – from ship design to digital technologies and global logistics. They also presented potential student project topics, thesis collaborations, internships and full-time job opportunities, providing a direct bridge between education and industry.

Students also heard personal stories from Drude Hargbøl Hundevadt from Odense Maritime Technology, Cecilie Damgaard Jensen from DFDS, and Emil Bording Andersen from Everllence, who shared their own career journeys into the Blue Denmark. In addition, three students presented how they take part in a maritime student job rotation programme arranged by ShippingLab – a hands-on example of how collaboration across companies can open doors for young professionals.

The event reflected a shared commitment across the Blue Denmark to attract new technical talent and strengthen the connection between academia and industry.

“It’s a real strength that we come together across organisations and companies to make the Blue Denmark visible and accessible to students,” says Magnus Gary, Project Director at ShippingLab. “By showing how broad and innovative the maritime world is, we can inspire more young people to see a future in our industry.”

A warm thank you to all the companies and organisations that took part in today’s event – Vessel Performance Solutions, Hempel, Odense Maritime Technology, Copenhagen Merchants, Howden, DHI, Danish Maritime Authority, IDA Maritim, DFDS, OSK Design, Navigator Gas, TORM, NORDEN, Everllence, Rohde Nielsen, FORCE Technology, Wärtsilä, Maersk, Clipper, Danish Maritime, Danish Shipping, and Weel & Sanvig – for showcasing the breadth, expertise and innovation of the Blue Denmark.

Maritime Careers Day once again demonstrated the value of collaboration across the maritime ecosystem – uniting education, research and industry partners in creating new pathways for the next generation of maritime professionals. We look forward to seeing many of the students who joined today’s event again – maybe next time out in the industry.
